Honda Celebration of Light – Firework Festival

It’s what you’ve been waiting for all summer…The highly anticipated Honda Celebration of Light kicked off on Saturday, July 27 entertaining more than 250,000 fireworks enthusiasts. Every year, three countries light up Vancouver’s English Bay competing for the sought-after title and some serious bragging rights. YVR is a proud partner of the event and sponsors the YVR Observation Deck Bleacher seating, which offers the most spectacular views in the city of the fireworks.

SHOREfest started the celebration with some of the hottest Canadian musical performers on their free concert stages in English Bay and Sunset Beach. Featuring artists like Serena Ryder, Good for Grapes, Grapes of Wrath, Buckman Coe, Northcote and Dawn Pemberton. United Kingdom finished the festivities with a big bang, displaying mesmerizing pyrotechnics paired perfectly with James Bond themed music.

Next up is Canada on Wednesday, July 31, who is looking to dominate on home turf with Daniel Wesley as the featured artists at SHOREfest. Then Thailand performs on Saturday, August 3 with Mother Mother performing at SHOREfest. With Red Bull throwing their spectacular, jaw dropping airshow with Pete Mcleod in his Eagle 540 aircraft next Wednesday and Saturday, each night of fireworks will bring something unique, drawing crowds back time and again.

The YVR Observation Deck is of course the best place to watch the celebration in the city with comfortable viewing right at the beach. Purchase tickets online at Be sure to stop by the YVR community tent to say “Hi” and test your knowledge about your airport and the chance to win a YVR prize pack worth $100.

For the complete concert line up at SHOREfest head over to their event page and for more information about the fireworks visit the Honda Celebration of Light website. See you Wednesday!
