Ideas for Layovers When You'd Rather Just Lay Down!

Over the coming few days, YVR will see thousands of travellers heading home from holiday celebrations across the country. And with wintry weather in Eastern Canada likely to impact some flight schedules, one or two customers may encounter an unanticipated layover at the airport.

Speed up your downtime with one or two of these suggestions:
Until December 31, the Fairmont Vancouver Airport ‘s Globe@YVR restaurant is offering a festive take on an old tradition: holiday afternoon tea. Settle in between 2 and 4:30 p.m. to enjoy roasted turkey finger sandwiches, house-made ginger snaps and eggnog cheesecake – and the great airside view of U.S. Departures, of course.

After logging hours of family time, you’re probably ready to catch up with friends. Check out Facebook friends’ Christmas morning photo albums, download a new bestseller to your tablet or start pinning next year’s wish list to your Pinterest account using YVR’s Free Wi-Fi.

I flew into work from Penticton this morning and noticed some great retail sales at YVR’s shops en route to the office. For example, the Lacoste store in the Domestic Terminal’s C-Pier has some great steals on t-shirts and accessories.

If you’re as knackered from holiday celebrating as the rest of us, some airport-style R & R could be the ticket. Grab a coffee, a seat and some peace in front of the beautiful The Spirit of Haida Gwaii: The Jade Canoe sculpture on the Departures level of the International Terminal or visit one of our Absolute Spa locations for a mani, pedi or massage.

Happy travels!
