Managing Aircraft Noise

The first such facility in Canada, the $12 million Ground Run-Up Enclosure (GRE) uses aerodynamic design combined with special sound absorbing panels to reduce and direct noise away from residential areas. Since it opened in January 2012, operators have conducted more than 1,400 run-ups in the facility, and noise heard in neighbouring communities has been reduced by up to 50 per cent.
