With last year firmly in the rearview (even if you do keep accidentally writing 2013 instead of 2014) it's time to look ahead at what's in store at YVR in the next 365.
Here's five things we're looking forward to at YVR in 2014.
Beginning May 13, 2014, Icelandair will operate a brand-new, non-stop service between Vancouver and Reykjavik, Iceland. Icelandair’s extensive network throughout Northern Europe will mean a smorgasbord of new travel options for YVR travellers. Word has it that our CEO Craig Richmond will be on one of the first flights to this northern, geyser-heated hotspot.
Dreamliner Lands at YVR
Attentional all plane-spotters, there’s a new bird on approach! The much-hyped Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft will make its inaugural appearance at YVR in early 2014. Which carrier? Which route? Stand by for more details.
We already offer the wildly popular School Tour Program for Grade 5 students every September. And in 2014, we’re rolling out a similar program for groups and organizations keen for an insider’s look at their friendly neighbourhood airport. Check back here for more details, including how to apply for a tour.
Another new carrier will join the YVR family in 2014. All Nippon Airways will boost our connections to Japan with its daily non-stop service to Haneda Airport in Tokyo, beginning March 30, 2014.
New Year, New Gates
We’re in the midst of one of the biggest capital projects in YVR history, the A-B Connector. This project will see the oldest remaining parts of the original 1960s terminal entirely upgraded, with new gates, waiting areas, shops and restaurants and a beautiful new rotunda to anchor the space. B-Pier will re-open later this year; In the meantime, check out our A-B Connector Project video series for details on what’s already underway.
