On April 10, Vancouver Airport Authority representatives were present at the Skytrax World Airport Awards
in Geneva, Switzerland to proudly accept Vancouver International Airport’s fourth consecutive award for Best Airport in North America. Considered the global benchmark of airport excellence, the Skytrax awards rated YVR rated 8th overall worldwide - the only North American airport to be included in the top 10.
The Skytrax awards are particularly meaningful to us because they reflect the opinions of our most important stakeholders: passengers. Over a nine-month period, independent officials surveyed some 12 million passengers in 395 different airports around the world. The survey queried travellers on 39 dimensions of the airport experience, including comfort and cleanliness, efficiency, clarity of directional signs, availability of transportation, employee friendliness, and the shops, services and amenities available to passengers.
From airlines and government agencies to retail tenants, cargo businesses, customer care representatives and Green Coat volunteers, the 23,000-plus employees who come to work on Sea Island each day share a commitment to hard work and excellence in airport operations that make the Skytrax accolade possible. Thank you for your contribution to the YVR community and to this award.
Our biggest thanks go to the millions of passengers who travelled through YVR in 2012 for their continued vote of confidence in our airport. In an ever-competitive landscape, this award both celebrates our accomplishments and galvanizes future excellence as we continue to seek ways to improve YVR’s facilities and customer experience.
