From the point of check-in to the aircraft gate, the process of moving through an airport is usually at least slightly stressful for the average person. Here at YVR, we’re working hard to help passengers shed that stressful stereotype through a number of processes designed to move you through the airport with ease (so you can fully enjoy the Duty Free bounty, that mouth-watering Cinnzeo caramel pecaroll, the 114,000-litre aquarium, an airline lounge or one of the other unique shops, services or attractions at YVR).
In fact, Vancouver Airport Authority was recognized earlier this month by the aviation industry for its achievements in doing just that, with the Best Airport Security & Immigration Award, presented as part of Future Travel Experience 2011 – a global forum held in Vancouver September 7-9.
The Airport Authority received the recognition for programs it developed with partner agencies – Canada Border Services Agency, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Canadian Air Transport Security Authority – to simplify and improve airport travel. In particular, the award recognizes the expedited trusted travelled program called NEXUS, and the innovative Automated Border Clearance (ABC) program, which has substantially reduced the average customs wait time for returning Canadian citizens and permanent residents who have a valid Canadian passport or permanent resident card.
Now where’s that caramel pecaroll… ??
