The YVR Art Foundation (YVRAF) is now accepting applications for the 2014 Youth Scholarship and the new Mid-Career Artist Scholarship Awards. Emerging B.C. First Nations artists who have been accepted to study with a mentor or at a formal institution of learning are invited to submit their applications no later than Friday, January 31st, 2014.
YVRAF scholarships are awarded annually to B.C. First Nations youth working in woodcarving, weaving, jewelry design, print-making or other traditional art forms. Award recipients receive a $5,000 scholarship throughout the following year to help them produce their artwork. These works of art are unveiling the following year at an award ceremony at YVR and are exhibited for travellers from around to world to admire.
Up to eight YVRAF Youth Scholarships will be awarded to artists between the ages of 16 and 26 and two Mid-Career Artists Scholarships to artists who are 27 years of age or older. For more information about YVR Art Foundation and their scholarship awards, please visit the Art Foundation's website.
