YVR Summer Festival Series Takes Off at Fat Cat Festival in Kelowna

The YVR Flight Crew kicked off the Summer Festival Series last week at the 23rd annual Fat Cat Children’s Festival - Kelowna’s largest children’s festival. The annual event welcomed thousands of happy families with stage performers, roaming entertainers and over 50 interactive stations, including our own YVR Fly Wheel.

This year’s Fat Cat Parade, presented by YVR, was led by two-year-old Grand Marshall, Ellie Eburne. Little Ellie proudly led the parade with her brother Jack and her Father Brad.

Other parade participants included the Arran Cambell Memorial Pipe Band from Vernon, large colourful floats, martial arts performers, dancers, mascots, fancy cars and YVR!

Festival-goers who visited the YVR tent had the opportunity to spin the Fly Wheel and answer trivia questions for a chance to win some amazing prizes.

The 23rd annual Fat Cat Festival was the perfect event to launch the popular YVR Summer Festival Series. Over the course of the next few months, the YVR Flight Crew will be busy preparing 18 community festivals to attend across British Columbia. We’ll be out in the community getting to know everyone and answering any question you may have about your friendly, neighbourhood airport. Stop by the YVR community tent at Burkeville Daze on June 22, 2014 and test your luck on the Fly Wheel!
