Santa took a quick break from his workshop last week to help celebrate our third-annual YVR Christmas Hamper Drive in support of Quest Food Exchange.
The YVR community truly came together to provide 417 complete meals to families in need this season.
In addition to the completed hampers, a substantial amount of additional food items was also donated to Quest, including 800 canned goods used by the Airport Authority’s Engineering team as part of its YVR-logo Can Sculpture. Extra thanks to Ledcor for purchasing the cans required and to Superstore for providing them at a reduced cost.
The Airport Authority will donate a turkey to every hamper as part of our Community Investment program, which donated more than $700,000 to community organizations in 2013.
The 10-day Food Drive culminated with an airport celebration at The Spirit of Haida Gwaii: the Jade Canoe that featured a performance by the ShowStoppers, holiday music and treats and a visit from Santa!
A big thank you to all of the organizations which participated, including: Vancouver Airport Authority, Green Coat volunteers, Marquise, WestJet, the Fairmont, Ledcor, Fortune Way Group, Air Canada, Graham Construction, Hudson Group, G4S Security, Japan Airlines, CATSA, CBP, CMS, Harrier Construction, Air China, CDS Baggage, China Airlines, Studio One Architecture and Western Economic Consulting.
