iPhone Photos From 500 Feet

One look at these amateur iPhone snaps will tell you that I'm no professional photographer. But I was lucky enough to accompany one for an aerial photo shoot earlier this week. The unpredictable April weather finally cooperated, and we timed our 5 p.m. flight for the best lighting to capture YVR's facilities and unbeatable setting from above.

This was my second time in a helicopter; a few years back I took to the skies above the 12 Apostles along Australia's famed Great Ocean Road. Hard to beat. But looking down at our spectacular airport came close.

The pro shots are coming soon, but in the meantime I hope you enjoy this iPhone-supplied, behind-the-scenes take on what I can confidently call one of the highlights of my airport communications gig.

Getting prepped for helicopter ride

Thanks to David from Hyphen Communications and Kelsey and Jeannette from Talon Helicopters for an epic adventure!

Stay tuned for some true beauty shots of YVR here on the blog and in other editorial channels in the coming weeks.
