B.C. Communities Showcase

BC Communities Showcase premier event

As the first welcome for many visitors to British Columbia, Vancouver International Airport has a unique opportunity to showcase our pristine province to travellers. To highlight the diversity and beauty that resides across British Columbia, YVR created the BC Communities Showcase in 2009, primarily for the benefit of visitors arriving for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, but also to showcase some of the truly unique aspects of the province.

The BC Communities Showcase program invited communities across the province to create a video, profiling their hometown. From Tofino to Prince George, 15 communities were given a $10,000 donation from Vancouver Airport Authority to create a short video to be broadcast throughout the airport, before during and after the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

These videos were so well received by travellers, they are still being shown in the terminal today. Next time you are at YVR, waiting to board a flight or having lunch in one of our food courts, take a look at our video screens to see stunning images of British Columbia. You may even catch your hometown.
