Emergency Training Exercise

April 16, 2013

On Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Vancouver Airport Authority is hosting a training exercise that will be staged at the North West corner of the airfield off of Ferguson road and in the Domestic and International terminals.

Regular operations should proceed as normal and we will do our best not to inconvenience our passengers, customers or business partners.

You may notice flames and flashing lights from emergency response vehicles arriving at a simulated aircraft crash site if you are near the North West end of airport. The training exercise also has a simultaneous component that will occur in the terminal —near air carrier check-in counters as well as the public arrivals areas. Inside the building, exercise volunteers will act as worried family and friends, and airport and air carrier staff participants will respond to their needs.

Everyone participating in the exercise will be clearly identified with a vest, name tag or white YVR baseball cap and signs will be posted throughout the airport.
Regular testing of the Airport Authority’s Emergency Management Plan and training response personnel are integral to our emergency preparedness program.
