Russ Baker Way Repaving is Complete
September 13, 2013
Final Project Update
The Airport Authority is pleased to announce that the repaving project on Russ Baker Way between Miller Road and Inglis Drive will be substantially complete as of Friday, September 13. All turning restrictions, alternate routes and temporary entry and exit points in and out of Burkeville will be removed and normal traffic operations will resume.
Over the coming two weeks, drivers and cyclists will see some road crew finishing minor touch-ups on the roadway’s shoulders, medians and the new Russ Baker Way cycling and pedestrian pathway, This work is not expected to impede traffic flow or restrict vehicle access along Russ Baker Way.
The repaved road offers safer and more reliable access to and from YVR, Richmond and Vancouver for neighbouring residents, local businesses, travellers and commuters. Cyclists and pedestrians can also take advantage of the new Russ Baker Way Pathway, which is now separated from vehicle traffic to offer safe access between YVR and Burkeville. This one-kilometre pathway also connects to the existing 24-kilometre cycling network on Sea Island.
We extend our sincere thanks to commuters, airport employees and local residents for their patience as the Airport Authority and its contractor, Columbia Bitulithic, safely completed this project on time and on budget.
Please enjoy the new paved road surface, and drive safely.
