Building a Better Airport for British Columbia

Vancouver Airport Authority is investing $1.8b to attract new routes and carriers and improve the customer experience. YVR will upgrade terminals, improve baggage systems and enhance safety and security. These improvements will ensure that our airport remains a gateway of choice.

Vancouver International Airport has been connecting B.C. to the world for 80 years.  Once a single runway, YVR has grown into an award-winning airport serving 17 million passengers a year.

Twenty years ago Vancouver Airport Authority launched an ambitious plan to make YVR a gateway of choice for all British Columbians. See how the Airport Improvement Fee (AIF) has helped shape our airport.

Original areas of the 1968 Domestic Terminal will be upgraded.  See what changes are in store.

Canada from the Air

The Canada from the Air campaign sees passengers submit in-flight photos that will be displayed on the temporary walls of the Domestic Terminal’s A and B Piers, currently undergoing renovation to add gates, expand seating areas and improve passenger amenities. Visit our online gallery for more photos and information.

Why Compete?

YVR is facing increasing competition from other airports.  Passengers and carriers have more choice than ever before.
