Richmond, B.C. (April 29, 2011): Mary Jordan, Chair of the Vancouver Airport Authority Board of Directors, today announced the appointment of two new Directors: Brian C. Bentz, C.A., appointee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC; and Dr. Gerri Sinclair from the community at large.
"I am extremely pleased to welcome Brian and Gerri to our Board of Directors, each of whom brings unique business expertise to the Airport Authority," said Jordan. "Their combined experience and vision will be of great value as we continue to focus on growing YVR as a global gateway."
Bentz, proprietor of Brian Bentz Consulting and a Corporate Director, has more than 30 years of experience in the engineering and construction industries at AMEC plc, AGRA Inc. and Simons International Corporation. He brings extensive senior executive experience in the areas of finance, strategy, international business, project finance, public private partnerships and development, and management of major construction projects. At AMEC and its predecessor companies, Bentz served most recently as President, Oil Sands and Mining; and previously as President, Project Investments, Americas; he was also President and CEO, Simons International Corporation.
Sinclair’s career encompasses more than 20 years of experience in the fields of the internet and new media technology, entrepreneurial business, academic research and education, and government policy. Now a Corporate Director and Strategic Consultant, in 1996 Sinclair founded NCompass Labs, a web content management software company. It was acquired by Microsoft Canada Ltd. in 2001 and Sinclair was named General Manager of MSN Canada. More recently, Sinclair was CEO of the Centre for Digital Media and Director of the Masters of Digital Media Program, a collaborative program operated by SFU, UBC, BCIT and Emily Carr University of Art + Design.
In addition, the Government of Canada has re-appointed George Cadman to the Vancouver Airport Authority Board of Directors. Rhys Eyton, the current nominee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC, is retiring from the Board.
Vancouver Airport Authority is governed by a Board of 14 Directors. Nine Directors, with key ties to the local community, are appointed by eight nominating entities. Up to five Directors are appointed by the Board from the community at large. The Airport Authority President and Chief Executive Officer also serves as a Director.
