Vancouver Airport Authority Announces New Board Director

Richmond, B.C. (November 17, 2011): Mary Jordan, Chair of the Vancouver Airport Authority Board of Directors, today announced the appointment of Joseph Caron to the Board.

“Joseph Caron has extensive experience in Asian and international economic affairs, which will be of great benefit as we work to position YVR as a premier global gateway,” said Jordan. “I look forward to working with him on the Board.” 

Caron has a distinguished diplomatic career that spans 40 years and includes ambassadorships to China, Japan and India. He has held several positions related to Asian and international economic affairs, including Foreign and Defence Secretariat of the Privy Council Office and as Assistant Deputy Minister for Asia-Pacific at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. He has also served as Canada’s Senior Official for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, responsible for managing the Canadian Prime Minister’s participation in APEC.

Caron is Strategic Advisor, Asia-Pacific at Heenan Blaikie, as well as a Distinguished Fellow of the Asia Pacific Foundation and an Honorary Research Associate of the University of British Columbia’s Institute of Asian Research. He is also a Director of Manulife Financial and on the Board of the Canada Business Council of British Columbia.
